Be “The Answer”

”It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities.”

Josiah Charles Stamp, English Economist, 1880 – 1941

When was the last time you dodged your responsibilities? There is much that is entrusted to us. Sometimes we delegate, put off, or just plain forget about our responsibilities but in the end WE are the one’s who must take the brunt for our actions.

The word responsibility has its Latin roots in the word ANSWER. Thus to be responsible is to be the answer for something or someone…to take their place. When you have been entrusted in a position of leadership, whether you are a parent, a business owner, a teacher, or an executive you have made a decision to become the Answer for someone else’s actions. Even when they don’t take responsibility…YOU have to!

It is a pity when we begin to blame others for something that was ultimately our responsibility.  Be an example of what it means to be “The Answer” for the mistakes and mishaps of others.  With great power comes great responsibility…take seriously your position and to those whom you are accountable.
